A wide spectrum of state-of-the-art technologies and standard methods in modern neurosciences are in routine use at the Center for Brain Research. These include:
- Imaging technologies: 2-Photon laser-scanning microscopy in vivo and in vitro; confocal laser-scanning microscopy; (immune-) electronmicroscopy; ultra-microscopy (glass brain); time-lapse microscopy and fluorescence microscopy.
- Neurobiological, bio- and histochemical techniques: Genetic analysis; transgenic mouse models; microarrays, PCR; ELISA; in-situ hybridisation; 2-D-electrophoresis.
- Electrophysiological techniques: patch-clamp techniques; in vivo recording- and stimulation techniques.
- Computational techniques: Data mining techniques; knowledge-based methods, cognitive modelling; receptor modelling.
