In January 2007 Hans-Ulrich Dodt was appointed as Professor of Bioelectronics at the Vienna University of Technology (TU). Since then cooperation venture has been in place between the TU Vienna and the Center for Brain Research of the Medical University of Vienna where his section is located.

Ulrich Dodt is a physician and physicist who had previously worked at the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry in Munich, Germany. His research team develops and applies new optical methods for the analysis of the brain, in particular a new kind of microscopy (ultramicroscopy) to visualise neuronal networks in whole mouse brains. In addition new statistical methods for the nonlinear analysis of neuronal signals like EEG data are developed.
